Tyson truly arrived on the world stage with a nationally televised fight against Jesse Ferguson. After Tyson caught Ferguson with an uppercut that broke his nose, the result of the fight was clearly inevitable. Tyson won after Ferguson was disqualified for illegally clinching.

They sought $22.5 million in damages. The parties reached a confidential settlement in 2000.

In 2021, Paul featured in an exhibition clash against Floyd Mayweather Jr and managed to go the full eight round distance with a fighter who is considered to be one of the greatest to ever step into a boxing ring.

But an iconic tattoo having a whole different shape takes the cake. Just imagine a prime boxer with raw power, arrested multiple times, but sporting cute hearts on his face! A prime sentiment on X (@JiujitsuOtter) reacted “I’d buy him a beer for having the heart not to do it and made the most iconic tattoo in sports history instead.”

The tattoo has become part of pop culture when one of the characters in the hit movie The Hangover, Stu (played by actor Ed Helms), wakes up to find he has the same tattoo. This tattoo forms the crux of several jokes, especially when Tyson pops up in the film, and was also the center of a lawsuit.

Have you ever wondered what the story is behind the famous face tattoo of former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson? This intricate and striking tattoo has become an iconic symbol of Tyson’s legacy, both inside and outside the boxing ring. In this article with Impeccable Nest, we’ll delve into the history, cultural significance, and personal meaning behind Mike Tyson’s face tattoo, exploring why it has captured the public’s imagination and continues to fascinate people around the world.

“A week later he fought and knocked out Clifford in one round and I was upset. I was happy for Mike that he won, but I was also upset that I had trained him for eight weeks and I wasn’t part of that win.”

The American former boxer Mike Tyson has four tattoos of note. Three—at least two of them prison tattoos —are portraits of men he respects: tennis player Arthur Ashe, Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara, and Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong. The fourth, a face tattoo influenced by the Māori style tā moko, was designed and inked by S. Victor Whitmill in 2003. Tyson associates it with the Māori being warriors and has called it his “warrior tattoo”, a name that has also been used in the news media.

In October 1998, Tyson’s Nevada boxing license was reinstated and he returned to the ring the next year. The boxer four wins and two no contests before attempting to win back the heavyweight title in 2002. To do so, he would need to beat Lennox Lewis, the WBC, IBF, and International Boxing Organization 8 division champion in boxing.

On a cold winter day, current owners granted me permission to access the property to photograph its current condition of decay and neglect. I was able to speak with them, learning that the house was soon to become a lively church and how they planned to carry out this restoration. As I wandered the halls and rooms of this large vacant space, I could only imagine the wild parties that must have taken place within these walls. There I stood, looking across a living room that was once full of life, but now remains empty of parties, tigers or celebrities. It was odd to think that I was staring down a place the famous Mike Tyson once called home.

My journeys have taken me to some strange places, ranging from the creepiness of an abandoned lunatic asylum, to the quiet, vast emptiness of a forgotten chapel, but nothing quite like the abandoned home of a former professional boxer. After being arrested here in 2013 it was nice to make a return trip, thankfully not ending in a $280 fine, to finally photograph the very odd forgotten structure of Mike Tyson’s abandoned 1980s mansion.

“He had been isolated even from people in his camp,” Lampley said. “People close to him told me he was hiding in his room watching Faces of Death. It had to do with his divorce from Robin and the shock of all that. And it had to do with some of the public turning against him. He went from being this impregnable colossus to the kind of public figure in whom you can poke holes. And he wasn’t emotionally prepared for that. He was a 23-year old kid.”

In the ring the fighter was at the absolute pinnacle of his power, defeating former IBF champ Michael Spinks in 91 seconds. Outside the ring Tyson’s life was spinning out of control. He broke his hand in a street fight with a former opponent Mitch “Blood” Green. Then he crashed his BMW into a tree on D’Amato’s former estate. Some in the media reported that the crash was intentional and amounted to a failed suicide attempt. He was reported to have chased Givens and her mother through the streets of Moscow, where she was shooting a movie. And then there was the appearance with his wife on national television in a question-and-answer session with Barbara Walters. Tyson sat next to Givens looking half-awake as his wife talked about him as if he were not there. She said that he was a manic-depressive and claimed that he had abused her. Soon after the humiliating ordeal Givens and Tyson were divorced.
